How to Turn a Guy Down Nicely
June 24th 2009 13:04
For whatever reason that you're just not into this guy, you want to be able to turn him down nicely so that you don't hurt his feelings. It can be hard, especially if the guy is a friend and you want to be able to retain that friendship.
A few things to remember:
* Think before you speak.
* Weigh the pros and cons of dating the person, and if there are more cons than pros, find a way to tell the person no.
* Find a private spot to tell the person no. You don't want everyone in the world to see you turn him down.
* Try to explain why you don't want to date the person without hurting his feelings or stepping on his toes. Be honest but not brutally honest.
* Try to complement the person, so that he doesn't feel too bad about the declined offer.
* If he starts to get too upset, just politely excuse yourself.
Make sure that you don't email or text the decline, as this is very rude. He will actually appreciate the gesture if you decline in person.
