Snake bursts open after eating Alligator

The remains of two huge reptiles were found by amazed rangers in the Everglades National Park in Florida.

A 6ft alligator and 13ft python were involved in an amazing struggle which left them both dead. The python burst open after trying to swallow the alligator.

It takes a minute to make sense of the photo. The python's remains were found with the victim's tail protruding from it's burst midsection. The head of the python was missing. The alligator may have clawed the pythons stomach, causing it to burst.


Nature sure is weird sometimes.

yeah i actually saw a show on this it was on the discovery or national geo channel... anyway what they think happened is this- the python and the alligator fought and the python won and ate the alligator but apparently alligator hide is kinda tough(go figure) and the pythons stomach acid wasn't strong enough to break it down... so the python died, then a second alligator came along and started to eat the dead python and thats how they think it got the hole in it.

now this is all speculation too, no one really knows what happened, just a theory.

anyway if someone else saw the show too, they might be able to tell the story better than me, and i dont think the alligator was alive when it was swallowed.
