Queen covers up in Turkey
May 15th 2008 06:12
The Queen wore a flowing head covering as a mark of respect as she visited a 15th century mosque on her state visit to Turkey.
The scarf replaced the widebrimmed hat she had been wearing to protect her from the hot sun, while her shoes were removed in favour of slipper-type socks.
She then made her way into the Green Mosque – so called because of the colour of its tiles – in the northwestern city of Bursa.
The Queen's four-day state visit to Turkey is designed to highlight and strengthen Britain's ties with the republic, which the UK is supporting in its campaign to become a member of the EU.
She was joined on the trip to the former capital of the Ottoman empire by Prince Philip and Turkish president Abdullah Gul's wife Hayrunnisa.

I wonder if she is doing it herself, choosing, or has gotten rid of the awful dressers of the past, who kept putting her in lurid toxic coloured frumpy looking numbers.

I find it intriguing that the Queen still wishes to keep up her hectic lifestyle at her age (82), a truly remarkable feat I believe.
I'm wondering why she doesn't hand it over to Charles, he must be chaffing at the bit by now.
Maybe she never will. I wonder if she can skip Charles and go directly to William.

Wait to read yet another horro story about her extended family in the daily blats?
Not me! I'm right with her on that one! At least you get a friendly wave and cheer and a nice cuppa with your ever diminishing adoring subjects at home, and lots of fanfare abroad.
By the way, the Queen has actually handed over alot of duties to Charles and Anne particularly, and now has a long weekend every week usually, at Windsor, she hates Buck Palace apparently.

Those Royals are a wiley breed I'll give you that, but that picure just makes me think about that dam line from the film ... I can;t get it out of my head...
