Eat Placenta After You Give Birth

October 19th 2012 16:31

The ancient Chinese remedy of post-partum depression is to eat the placenta. Yes, the placenta (as seen above) looks nasty and gross, but it is said that there are many benefits of eating it.

Those who opt to eat the placenta may opt for placenta pills. Others, may opt to freeze dry the placenta.

The benefits of eating placenta or taking placenta pills can include:
* Increase breast milk production
* Reduce the risks of postpartum depression
* Help the uterus return to its pre-baby state
* Replenish the nutrients to the mother
* Decrease sleep disorder and insomnia
* Increase overall energy

The placenta nourishes the blood by entering the lung, liver, and kidney channels.

This is an old traditional method that has been practiced in the Chinese culture for decades. There has still been an overwhelming positive result for those who still practice consuming placenta after giving birth.

If you think that you want to try this, when you give birth the doctor will ask if you want the placenta, say Yes.
