Who Pays for What in a Wedding

Remember way back in history, when the male suitor had to offer the lady's family something (typically livestock or money). Well, if you look at the below list, you'll see how much the bride's family is supposed to pay.

The bride gets away pretty good. The groom actually has a good bit of expenses, but the bride's family really takes the bulk of the hit.

I prefer the idea of just living together rather then getting married and because I do not really value romantic relationship very much, I always take the my way or the high way attitude in my relationships, so I find it a bit hard to imagin myself in a position to worry about who pay for what in a wedding.
