Starting a New Relationship
March 1st 2009 19:37
So I've been seeing this particular guy for about a month and a half or so. We were un-officially dating for a while, and decided a few weeks ago to put the title to it of boyfriend/girlfriend.
The whole situation got me thinking about how bad I am with relationships. My last two relationships were with jerks, and this guy is the complete opposite of any guy I've ever really been interested in. It's just weird. A good weird though, which is always good.
When starting a new relationship, I'd say it's always a good thing to start slow. You don't want to rush anything with a new relationship because you never know how it is going to turn out. Plus, I've found that the slower you take things, the more you want him in all aspects of the word "want."
Although, I'm not the best person for relationship advice (yes, I admit it), I feel that to some degree I have good thoughts and ideals when it comes to relationships, especially being that I've gone through a few bad relationships.
A good man once told me that after putting yourself through a bad relationship, your next one will lack most of those flaws. You learn from your mistakes, and you learn about yourself when you experience a bad relationship. Never regret a relationship.
I find this absolutely true, as my new boyfriend is by far the opposite of my ex.
But, anyway when starting a new relationship, you want to follow your feelings and do what feels right. Just don't do something that you'll regret in the end. Don't rush a new relationship.
Make sure that you get everything out in the open. If you want to go slow, tell him! But, don't get EVERYTHING out in the open all at once. Remember that there is a time and a place to divulge certain information. I mean, on a first date, you don't want to start talking about having kids (even if it's not with him and more of an in general conversation).
