Margarita Wednesday - Margarita Recipes

March 12th 2009 10:39
You'll find that in most Mexican restaurants, Wednesday is declared margarita night, where margaritas are discounted. Well, you don't have to go to a restaurant to purchase your margarita; you can always make your own, at home. It'll be cheaper even using the discount at the restaurant.

The main ingredient that you'll want to make sure that you have is a good tequila. Below, I've included a few recipes, that, although I haven't tried, sound delicious.

Frozen Margarita Recipe
Ingredients:
* 2 (6 ounce) cans frozen limeade concentrate, thawed
* 1 1/2 cups tequila
* 1/2 cup Triple Sec
* 2 tablespoons sifted confectioners' sugar
* Ice cubes
* Lime wedges
* Coarse salt
* Lime wedges, for garnish

Directions:
Combine half of each of the first 4 ingredients in container of an electric blender. Process 30 seconds. Gradually add enough ice cubes to bring mixture to 3 1/2 cup level; blend until smooth. If you want to freeze for later use, pour mixture into a large freezer container. Repeat procedure with remaining half of ingredients. Cover tightly and freeze up to 1 month.

To serve, If frozen, thaw 20 minutes or until mixture becomes slushy. Rub rims of cocktail glasses with lime wedge. Place salt in saucer; spin rim of each glass in salt. Pour beverage into prepared glasses. Garnish, if desired. Serve immediately. Yields about 7 cups.

Strawberry Margarita Recipe
Ingredients:
* 1 ounce tequila
* 1/2 ounce Triple Sec
* 1/2 ounce strawberry schnapps
* 1/2 ounce lemon or lime juice
* 1 ounce fresh or frozen strawberries

Directions:
Rub rim of glass with a rind of lemon and dip in salt. Shake ingredients with ice and strain into cocktail glass.

Beer Margarita Recipe
Ingredients:
* 6 ounces tequila (preferably white or blanco)
* 12 ounces beer (any will do)
* 6 ounces frozen limeade concentrate
* Ice cubes to suit
*Lime flavored salt

Directions:
Cover the rim of the glass with the salt. Pour all ingredients into blender and blend well.

i love a good old fashioned frozen margarita!

something about the salt on the rim and the citrus flavours, so refreshing!

ive sampled a few wrongful attempts of pre-mixing margarita flavoured drinks in bottles . . . they usually arent very good . . . i had one mixer that came in a cask, totally horrid!

I agree. A frozen margarita is so much better than the poor attempts. I'm a big tequila fan, but when margaritas aren't made properly it's a shame. I've had the Texas style margarita, or something like that, and it was near horrible, but I drank it. Although, I suffered through it, I still drank most of it.

I'm not a fan of mixing lime with tequila but it could have been that one drink that sucked. I'd definitely try it again.
