Feng Shui Decorating Tips

May 25th 2009 14:01
Feng Shui is an ancient art of decorating your home so that you promote happiness, health, and luck. It was first started in the Far East, but Feng Shui is now very popular among the Western civilization. Not everyone believes in Feng Shui decorating, but the tricks really do work. There are different reason behind the benefits than what may have been originally believed, but the results are the same. You may want to check out my bedroom and bathroom tips to implementing Feng Shui in your home.

Tips that you should consider when you're redecorating your home to fit a Feng Shui lifestyle:

1. Boost your mood with a mirror- By placing one mirror in a room, you'll find that positive energy is produced instantly because a mirror can brighten a dark room and make small, cramped spaced appear more spacious.

* Put a mirror near the stove is said to double your opportunities to make more money.

2. Achieve personal success with flowers- Fresh flowers boost your chances to create wealth, but you can even add a picture or painting of flowers, as well, to help begin to create a world of opportunities. It's actually been studied that women who had flowers in their homes just for a week reported happier moods with less depression and more compassion for others. Flowers can also boost creativity so you can find more creative means to solve problems.

3. Earn money with a fountain- Because water represents luck, energy, and wealth, you want to add a small indoor fountain by the front door, which can open up your opportunities. The water droplets can produce mood-boosting negative ions which trigger the release of feel-good serotonin in the brain, making you more likely to go after opportunities.

* Since water represents money, you want to fix leak sinks and pipes as soon as they happen because a leak means that your money is slowly draining out of your bank account.

4. Feel happy with a single picture- Place a picture of your loved one(s) by your bed because Feng Shui believes that the first thing yo see in the morning and the last thing you see before you fall asleep will have a profound impact on your life. By looking at loved ones, it triggers your brain to release oxytocin, which is the "love" hormone, which makes your feel happy and secured. When you see a positive image, you will have a better mood all day long.

5. Create harmony with fruit- The kitchen represents togetherness, health, and prosperity, so you want to place a bowl of fresh fruit on the kitchen table to create harmony and success. You especially want to include oranges because they are seen to bring good luck. Because the fruit is available, it makes people more likely to eat healthy and skip junk food, which can be the strongest predictor of academic achievement, self-esteem, and future success. Plus the nutrients in the fruit improve energy, mood, mental functioning, and response to stress.

6. Reap your rewards with plants- Plants can counteract the lose of money and energy, especially when in the bathroom. Plants will not only brighten up the bathroom, but they will trap all positive energy so that it doesn't flow away. Because plants filter out pollutants and boost pure oxygen content in the air, they really can improve your energy, which is why having live plants in the bathroom is important because you typically use the most chemicals, the plants easily rid the space of the toxins, which can leave you more alert and health.

7. Feel loved with pillows- Arrange your pillows nicely next to each other in the corners of the bed or couch because the arrangement can intensify emotion and affection because you feel more secure and relaxed. By using overstuffed pillows, you are subconsciously projecting comfort and security, as well as calmness when just looking at them. Pillows create the feeling of coziness and warmth.

Home decorating is usually left up to the female, but there are some cases where the man of the house will take over those duties. Personally, it should be a nice mix of the two flavors. I find the feng shui is a great means to decorate any room in your house. I find that two of hte more important rooms to feng shui is the bedroom and the bathroom.

When decorating your bathroom for a feng shui wealth, you should follow some of the following tips to ensure that your wealth and financial status improves.

You want to use some of the following colors, using any feng shui color below for the walls, accessories, and elements.
* Wood: Brown, Green
* Water: Blue, Black
* Earth: Light Beige, Sandy, Very Light Yellow.

You want to create a luxurious, spa-like feel to your bathroom. You want a nice calming area that is clean and free of clutter. Make sure that you keep the air and light quality good, as both elements are essential for good energy.

Another thing that may be harder for men to remember to do, but is important in a feng shui bathroom, is to keep the toilet seat down. By keeping the toilet seat down, you are representing keeping the energy leak down, as the bathroom is the main room in the home that is concerned with an leaking energy.

Other things you should incorporate into your bathroom include:
* 8 stalks of bamboo for wealth and abundance
* A bowl of crystals (multi-color crystals combined with amethyst, hematite, citrine, rose quartz, and others) for wealth
* Pictures, art, and fresh flowers that help represent what wealth means to you
* Include mirrors that give you pleasure to look at yourself, as well as bringing the water element into the room.
* Several sources of light will promote good energy.
* Add a nice scent to the room, as the right scent choice can move you to a calming, invigorating, romantic, or cleansing state. You can use oils, candles, or other scents. Just remember to make sure that the bathroom has proper ventilation in order to keep a healthy bathroom and a healthy you.

You want your bathroom to create a calming state of mind, which is easily achieved when you use the feng shui colors and elements, and when you keep the space feeling warm (via colors, arts, flowers, and other elements).

Feng Shui Your Bedroom

March 31st 2009 14:21
The idea of a perfectly designed bedroom with feng shui design is going to vary slightly with each individual, but for the most part each person is going to have the same things in common- the ideas of pleasure and dreaming.

A bedroom that is designed in good feng shui is going to promote a harmonious flow of nourishing and sensual energy. It's going to invite you into the room while both exciting you and calming you at the same time. A good feng shui style bedroom will be a pleasure to be in and invite you to take a nap or become passionate.

You'll want to follow these simple steps below:
1. Remove the TV, computer, and exercise equipment from the room.
2. Open a window or use an air-purifier to keep the air fresh and full of oxygen.
3. Use different levels of lighting, or a dimmer switch to adjust the light energy accordingly.
4. Use soothing colors to achieve balance, restorative sleep, sexual healing, and to promote the best flow of energy.
5. Choose pictures and photographs wisely; you want images of things that you want to see in your life. Avid sad or lonely pictures.
6. Make sure to follow the basic guidelines of bed placement, which include
* Bed should be approachable from both sides.
* Have a bedside table on each side.
* Avoid having the bed in a direct line of the door.
7. Make sure to shut all doors at night, including the closet and joining bathroom doors, which will allow for the best nourishing flow of energy to strengthen your health.
8. Reduce the number of electromagnetic fields in the room. That includes an electric alarm clock near the bed.

Other tips to consider when decorating your bedroom with a feng shui style include:
* Never have a mirror facing your bed.
* Never have your bed in line with any doors.
* Do not have anything heavy above your bed. That means no beams, ceiling fans, lights, bells, or chimes.
* Do not have sharp angles facing you while you sleep, that includes the angles of the bed stands.
* Make sure that there is a solid wall behind your headboard. That means no windows.
* Do not have your bed under a sloped ceiling, as this can constrict your energy.
* Have your bed as far from the door. Try placing it in the diagonal corner from the door, but make sure that it's not in line with the door. You want to be able to see the door while in bed, but you don't want to be able to see directly out of it.
