Girls Can Collect Model Cars

March 12th 2009 17:31
Model cars are not a solely made for boys. Girls enjoy model cars and Hot Wheels, as well, so if your daughter picks up your son's cars and takes them to her room to play, don't worry. I mean, dolls need cars to ride in, don't you think?

My younger cousin once had the largest Hot Wheel collection that I'd ever seen. She used to line them up and play with them all the time, and I bet to this day she can still name all the cars she sees on the road without hesitation.

But, it's not just playing with model cars, girls can collect model cars of all shapes and sizes as well. I mean, like I said my cousin had a huge collection of Hot Wheels.

You'll find that diecast model cars are probably the favorite to collect among model car collectors, and because they come in a large variety of sizes and styles, a collection can be very wide and varied.

If anything, you may find that a girl's love for cars starts with her first Barbie car. I bet you didn't know that the pink plastic car started for your daughter's Barbie collection. Otherwise, it could have been the ride along car that you purchased for your toddler to drive around the yard in. Who knows what exactly started her love for cars, but if she wants to collect model cars, let her.

Girl Collections- Collecting Dolls

March 3rd 2009 17:18

I think everyone needs a hobby of some sort, and being that there are a number of different hobbies that you can interest yourself into, it can be a big decision as to where to start. Personally, you should always go with what you like. For instance, I'm not a big doll collector, so collecting dolls for me is something I don't spend much time in, but because I like cows, I will collect various cow statues and products.

As for dolls, I've found that they can be quite lucrative if you collect the right dolls. Typically, doll collectors will specialize in a particular doll- paper dolls versus porcelain dolls, for example.

And, personally, as a female collecting dolls is probably as girly as you can get, and well, I'm just not the girliest female that you'll come across, hence why dolls just aren't my specialty. But, I do know a number of older women and even younger girls, who collect dolls, typically Barbie dolls or porcelain dolls, though.

There just aren't that many younger girls who collect paper dolls, as there are so many other dolls that are more appealing to the current generation. I mean, personally, why play with and collect paper dolls when you have dolls that cry, drink, scrim, etc?

One of the newer dolls that people, especially younger girls, have taken an interest in would be Cabbage Patch Kid dolls. These dolls come in a variety of styles and series, which makes them fun to look at and collect, which is the whole purpose of a collection- to have fun and to have interest in the things that you're collecting.

Now, I commend anyone who collects dolls, but I find some of them, especially porcelain dolls a little creepy. But, for some reason, I was thinking about dolls earlier and how some people collect them. Hey, it's a collection that can make a little money if you just spend the time shopping around for the best deals, and no that doesn't mean at the toy store necessarily, but expos and with other collectors.
