Feng Shui Decorating Tips

May 25th 2009 14:01
Feng Shui is an ancient art of decorating your home so that you promote happiness, health, and luck. It was first started in the Far East, but Feng Shui is now very popular among the Western civilization. Not everyone believes in Feng Shui decorating, but the tricks really do work. There are different reason behind the benefits than what may have been originally believed, but the results are the same. You may want to check out my bedroom and bathroom tips to implementing Feng Shui in your home.

Tips that you should consider when you're redecorating your home to fit a Feng Shui lifestyle:

1. Boost your mood with a mirror- By placing one mirror in a room, you'll find that positive energy is produced instantly because a mirror can brighten a dark room and make small, cramped spaced appear more spacious.

* Put a mirror near the stove is said to double your opportunities to make more money.

2. Achieve personal success with flowers- Fresh flowers boost your chances to create wealth, but you can even add a picture or painting of flowers, as well, to help begin to create a world of opportunities. It's actually been studied that women who had flowers in their homes just for a week reported happier moods with less depression and more compassion for others. Flowers can also boost creativity so you can find more creative means to solve problems.

3. Earn money with a fountain- Because water represents luck, energy, and wealth, you want to add a small indoor fountain by the front door, which can open up your opportunities. The water droplets can produce mood-boosting negative ions which trigger the release of feel-good serotonin in the brain, making you more likely to go after opportunities.

* Since water represents money, you want to fix leak sinks and pipes as soon as they happen because a leak means that your money is slowly draining out of your bank account.

4. Feel happy with a single picture- Place a picture of your loved one(s) by your bed because Feng Shui believes that the first thing yo see in the morning and the last thing you see before you fall asleep will have a profound impact on your life. By looking at loved ones, it triggers your brain to release oxytocin, which is the "love" hormone, which makes your feel happy and secured. When you see a positive image, you will have a better mood all day long.

5. Create harmony with fruit- The kitchen represents togetherness, health, and prosperity, so you want to place a bowl of fresh fruit on the kitchen table to create harmony and success. You especially want to include oranges because they are seen to bring good luck. Because the fruit is available, it makes people more likely to eat healthy and skip junk food, which can be the strongest predictor of academic achievement, self-esteem, and future success. Plus the nutrients in the fruit improve energy, mood, mental functioning, and response to stress.

6. Reap your rewards with plants- Plants can counteract the lose of money and energy, especially when in the bathroom. Plants will not only brighten up the bathroom, but they will trap all positive energy so that it doesn't flow away. Because plants filter out pollutants and boost pure oxygen content in the air, they really can improve your energy, which is why having live plants in the bathroom is important because you typically use the most chemicals, the plants easily rid the space of the toxins, which can leave you more alert and health.

7. Feel loved with pillows- Arrange your pillows nicely next to each other in the corners of the bed or couch because the arrangement can intensify emotion and affection because you feel more secure and relaxed. By using overstuffed pillows, you are subconsciously projecting comfort and security, as well as calmness when just looking at them. Pillows create the feeling of coziness and warmth.

I agreed with your thoughts here, Whitney. Also, you should place your bathroom away from the front door and kitchen, as this is no good for your health! Remember, you shouldn't place the bathroom in the middle of your house. If you insist to do it, it will permanently destroy your house's aura!

PS: By the way, you also can hang a wind bell between the door and bathroom area. The wind bell is to be said have the ability to hold the "Chi" (Energy) from flow out from your bathroom.

Yea. I can't wait to get my own home and decorate feng shui. It's a great way to promote health, finance, luck, and happiness.
