Using Female Condoms

September 30th 2009 15:06
Female condoms are not a new invention, but like most females, I've never seen or really heard of them, but they're available for purchase at most places that sell regular male condoms. The female version is for the most part the same, except it has a ring on the end; these are supposed to prevent unwanted pregnancy and help reduce the risk of contracting an STD.

The ring protects the vaginal area completely, or at least near so. You should never solely rely on these to not contract a sexually transmitted disease; you still want to be careful of who you have relations with.

The female condom is wider than a regular condom, so they tend to provide more of a natural experience.

If you want more information about how they work and what they're made out of, check out Female Condoms by Isabella Snow.

Just remember that you don't want to use both a female and a male condom together at the same time. The friction from the materials can cause more complications and potentially cause one or both to break.

How to Insert a Female Condom
1. When you first remove from the package, you want to rub the condom between two fingers so that you evenly distribute the lubricant.
2. Squeeze the inner ring (the closed in) of the condom between your thumb and middle finger; use your index finger to push the condom into your vagina. You want to push until you can't feel it any more.
3. You want to keep the ring at the open end on the outside of your vagina so that it rests against your labia.

You want to remove the condom if:
* It tears
* The outer ring gets pushed inside
* The penis enters the vagina outside of the condom
* It bunches or twists while inside the vagina
* If you want to have intercourse again
* As soon as the man ejaculates

You want to remember that during intercourse, you have to hold the outer ring in place to prevent it from slipping into the vagina. You should also guide the penis into the condom to prevent it from sliding between the condom and the vaginal wall.

When removing the female condom, you want to prevent spillage by twisting it near the outer ring and carefully remove the condom. Throw it away.

I have never used one of these also. But I can't imagine it would be very sexy to have sex while holding the outer ring so it doesn't slip into the vagina... Usually I use my hands for other interesting things. I will have to find a partner that doesn't mind some laughing and experiencing in the bedroom to try and see

Morgan, I'm not sure if I'm sold on them, but they are pretty interesting.

Aphrodite, yea I don't think it'd be very sexy, but hey I'm sure it could be turned into sexy. I mean, putting on a man condom isn't that sexy, but some women will put it on using her mouth kinda deal. I'm sure something like that could be carefully done with a female condom. I'm sure there are ways to make it sexy. Ha

So it's more expensive than a regular condom, and more troublesome to use (having to be held so that it doesn't slip in). Why, then, would anyone want to use these? It seems an unnecessary, and poorer, duplication of something that already exists...

spring-heeled, it may be more expensive, but as mentioned they seem to give a more natural experience. These have existed for a long time. It's nothing new.

I realise that they aren't new. I'm just suggesting that maybe those two factors are why the remain relatively unpopular/unknown. Also, it may feel different for the male partner, but I can't imagine it feeling more 'natural' for the woman to be holding a latex sheath between her fingers.

Still, I'm a firm believer that people should be informed of all options in order to make the best personal decisions, so your article is definitely serving a worthy purpose.

Gotcha... Yea, I'm not sure. It could be that we're just used to male condoms so that's what most of us stick with. Stay with what's known.
