There are many dresses to choose from and many designers making different styles. You don't always have to go with the most expensive one. You will find that there are really nice dresses available for $500, you just have to find the right store that's having the sell. Just remember that you want to price different stores before you make your final decision. Check out wedding expos and larger dress stores, sometimes you'll find better deals than at the smaller boutiques.
Start looking for a dress early. When you find the right dress, you don't want it to be late to arrive. You just can't get married without the perfect dress. Ha. Start at least nine months in advance so that you can have plenty of time for the dress to get to you and the alterations taken care of.
When you go shopping, bring a friend or two, and your mom if she's available. Bring cameras. You want to take pictures so that you can look at how the dresses looked on you when you get home. You may think that dress number 5 was the best and your favorite, but when you get home, you may find that dress number 2 was really the most flattering. You'll forget what the dresses really looked liked on you by the time you make it home, whether it's a 15 minute ride or a 2 hour one.
Plus, when you bring someone along, you can get a second or third opinion.
Consider making an appointment with the bridal shops so that you will have more privacy, and so that the employees can give you the best advice. You don't want to have the one working employee helping three ladies. You just may not get the best guidance when choosing your wedding dress.
Try to only go to a few bridal stores a day- one or two. You don't want to get confused when trying to figure out which dress came from where. Plus, you'll be fresh and full of energy and enthusiasm, which will help you make the best decision. You'll just get worn out if you go to too many places in one day.
When you're looking at wedding dresses, make sure that you try them on. Some of the ones that are hideous on the hanger can be gorgeous when on. Plus, you want to try on many different styles, so that you can get the best idea as to which dress will best suit your body. Also, make sure to walk around, sit, and move around a bit in each dress to see how they move and feel when you're moving.
Also, when looking at dresses, you want to keep in mind the jewelry, underwear, veil, and shoes that you're going to be wearing.
Consider the bead work on the dress, any garnishments, and the color. Dresses come highly or lightly decorated. Some aren't even white. There are many popular wedding dresses that are off-white, pastel colors, and even black wedding dresses are pretty popular.
Lastly, when shopping for a wedding dress, ask for discounts and never pay the dress in full. You want to pay a deposit and then the rest when you pick up the dress.
You want to have fun when looking for your dress. Try not to stress. Enjoy the time you're having because it's a happy time in your life. If the dress is a little late, try not to stress it. If the alterations aren't perfect, don't worry, most people at your wedding won't even notice. (Unless of course you have a lot of clothing designers going to be there, then that's a whole other store. Ha)
Just remember, there isn't going to be one dress and only one wedding dress that looks good on you, so take your time and make the best decision that you can.
